Photo Requirements

To obtain an Indian visa, you will need to provide a passport-style photograph. The visa application form asks for two images: one that is 2×2 inches in size and another that is 1 inch square. You can also submit a photo of your passport.

If you are a citizen of India, you can obtain a passport photo at a passport agency or at a photo store. If you are not a citizen of India, you will need to take your photograph with a digital camera and then upload the image onto the visa application form.

NOTE: You may need to have your photograph taken again if you change your name or travel outside of India.

Document Requirements

The document requirements for Indian visas depend on the visa class you are applying for. The following table lists the document requirements for different visa classes.

As of August 1, 2017, all applicants must present a valid passport with at least six months’ remaining validity. For all other visa classes, you will need to present one of the following documents:

– A valid national identity card or driver’s license

– A valid travel document (such as a passport) that is not less than 6 months old and has not been cancelled or expired

– An online application confirmation letter from an authorized immigration services provider that contains your final travel information and pictures of your front and back sides (an e-Visa cannot be issued until this letter has been received by the embassy or consulate)

The visa requirements for some visa classes may change from time to time, so you should consult the embassy or consulate website for the most up-to-date information.
